The Vuelta a España, or Tour of Spain, is the third Grand Tour of the cycling season. Like the others, it takes place over three weeks. The overall winner takes home the red jersey, although in the past it has been gold, yellow, orange, and white.

The winner of the points classification wears the green jersey, while the best climber wears a white jersey with blue polka dots. There is also a combined classification.

The record holder is Roberto Heras (Spain), with four victories. However, one of the most dominant performances in a Grand Tour came from Freddy Maertens, who wore the leader’s jersey from the first day and won 13 out of 19 stages.
