Laurent Jalabert

From 1989 ONCE was a Spanish cycling team led by Manolo Saiz. In 1990 the team achieved its first successes by winning the team classification in the Vuelta and the Giro. They also won a number of smaller races. The individual general classification was won in the Vuelta of 1991 with Melcior Mauri, the Vuelta in 1995 with Laurent Jalabert and the Vuelta in 1996 and 1997 with Alex Zülle. In the Tour de France Zülle (1995) and Joseba Beloki (2002) were on the podium in Paris, but they didn't get a final victory. They did win the team classification in both editions.

In 2003, after 15 seasons and more than 400 victories, ONCE decided to stop the sponsorship because it had achieved its goals. 98% of Spaniards knew ONCE and knew what ONCE stood for, namely Organización Nacional de Ciegos de España, a charity lottery for the blind and partially sighted. ONCE had a yellow and later a pink outfit.
